Give your Bathroom some TLC this year!
As always, January is the month for great intentions, starting fresh and ultimately setting yourself up for the new year! And whether you choose to admit it or not your bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the house, so why not concentrate on how to make this space as functional and inviting as possible.
JANUARY – DECLUTTER
Starting with a major declutter in the bathroom is a great way to transform a basic banal bathroom into a luxury space! A cluttered area cannot create a relaxing atmosphere that is desired in a bathroom. Start off by asking yourself some questions
- Do I hoard? For every new shampoo, you bring into your bathroom, get rid of another bottle. This will stop impulse buying on things that aren’t needed. The same rule should apply to most items- conditioner, soap, shower gel, cosmetic, towels. If you haven’t used something in a year throw it out and STOP HOARDING!! Another sentence that you should constantly remind yourself of; ‘If in doubt, throw it out!!’
- Is there anything visible that could be stored elsewhere. Is there space in a hallway, hot-press or another room that I could keep my towels. Only keep everyday use items in your bathroom. Things like wax strips, tweezers, nail clippers, fake tan etc, could possibly go into storage elsewhere.
- Assess your storage situation; What size storage would ideally fit in this space? What colour/ material would look best with the chosen suite.
The next step is to start investing in adequate storage that fits the size & design of your bathroom. Heres a few ideas to get you started.
- Mirror Cabinets – These are a handy and practical storage solution especially for smaller bathrooms
- Under the sink storage – Vanity units have become the norm in bathroom interiors providing plenty of storage space for everything from cosmetics to towels.
- Heated towel rails – Not only do they look the part they provide practical heating solutions and a nice little spot to hang fresh towels.
- Wall hung accessories such as toothbrush holders, soap dish holders etc this is a small way to help remove loose items such as toothbrushes/toothpaste and soap from your sink.
